How To Measure

Face Fix Roller Blind
A Face Fix Measurement is optimal for insulation and minimizing light. It means that the fabric comes out partially over the Architrave.
A Face Fix Measurement is optimal for insulation and minimizing light. It means that the fabric comes out partially over the Architrave.
- To measure the width of a Face Fix Blind , clip your tape on the outside of the architrave and measure to the opposite Architrave
- To Measure the Drop of a Face Fix Blind Clip your tape on the top of the Architrave and measure approximately 300mm past the bottom of the window frame
- TIP: Make sure to keep your tape measure straight and record your measurement to the closest Millimeter.

Recess Fix Roller Blind
A Recess Measurement is arguably neater however to allow for components a Recess Roller Blind has approximately 18mm gaps on either side of the Recess where there is no fabric ( About the width of your thumb) which allows small amounts of light through. As such it is not as effective in terms of insulation. A recess blind is also not ideal for keeping a bedroom dark.

- To Measure the width of a Recess Blind put your tape in one corner of the inside of the top of the Recess and extend it to the opposite side of the window recess, making sure your tape is straight.
- To Measure the Drop of a Recess Blind put your tape at the top of the window recess and extend it to the bottom of the recess.
- *Minimal Depth for a Recess Roller Blind is 70MM
- Recess Blinds may need to be forward Rolled to allow for obstructions such as window cross bars or winders
- Do Not Make Any Deductions to your measurements
Roll Direction - Forward or Back?
Similar to a toilet paper roll, the fabric on a roller blind can roll Forward or Standard/Back Roll, each with their own advantages.
TIP: As a rule of thumb in most cases the Sheerview Blind is fitted in the Recess and the Blockout on the Face of the window frame.
Standard/Back Roll
Front Roll
FAQ:
Should I forward roll or Back/Standard Roll a recessed Blind?
If there is sufficient depth and no obstructions in the recess, the blind can roll either way based on visual preference.
Should I forward roll or Back/Standard Roll a Face Fixed Blind?
We strongly recommend all Face fixed Roller blinds are Back/Standard Rolled unless they can't be (e.g in case of obstructions).
What do most people do and what is the standard way to have your blinds?
As a rule of thumb in most cases the Sheerview Blind is fitted in the Recess and the Blockout on the Face of the window frame.
My window is over 3 Metres wide what do I do?
The maximum possible width of a roller blind without railroading fabric (which is poor practice) is Approximately 3 Metres or 3000mm. Beyond this a blind needs to be split (becoming two separate blinds and priced accordingly). Give us a call and we will explain the process of measuring split blinds.
I've come across something not covered in the guide or I'm not sure about something... what should I do?
Measuring Blinds can be a complicated process, if you have any questions don't hesitate to call Kevin on 0478 631 738

Standard/Back Roll
- Fabric sits closer to the window frame, which is especially important when a blind is face fixed
- Better insulation on a face fixed blind due to the fabric sitting close to the window frame
- Minimizes light and keeps a room darker
Front Roll
- Is sometimes Necessary, mainly in a window recess to clear obstructions such as winders or door handles. If you're in doubt about a obstruction in your window recess, we recommend front rolling your blind to be on the safe side.
- Not suitable for Face Fix Roller Blinds as it brings the fabric further away from the window frame creating large light gaps on either side and reducing insulation.
- If fitting two blinds in the same position with Double brackets, (e.g two in the recess) the front blind MUST be forward rolled so it doesn't rub on the blind at the back.
